Game Recap

South Christian’s Lady Sailors headed south to Wayland on Friday for the first OK Gold conference game of the season. South started the game with a 7-0 run and never gave up the lead. SC shot the ball well for the night, but even the shots that were missed turned into scoring opportunities as the Sailors dominated the Lady Wildcats on the offensive glass with 18 offensive rebounds on the night. Mariel Bruxvoort was the hottest hand posting 26 points and pulling down 6 rebounds for South. Gabby Timmer and Courtney VanderHoning controlled the paint for SC as Timmer scored 15 points and grabbed 8 boards, while VanderHoning had her first double double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Sydney Cleary stuffed the stat sheet leading the Sailors with 7 assists and 5 steals to go with her 5 rebounds and 4 points. South Christian is now 4-5 on the year and 1-0 in the OK Gold. South will host Forest Hills Eastern on Tuesday night.
