Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · JV Soccer Defeats Jenison 1-0

The JV comes off a busy week last week defeating Jenison 1-0. Last week the girls had 2  wins over Catholic Central and Middleville, posting 2 conference wins.  They lost a hard fought battle trying to avenge an earlier loss to Calvin Christian on Friday evening. They came up short 3-4.  On Monday against Jenison, the Sailors were at a 0-0 tie late in the 2nd half when coach Ben Cook changed up the line-up. He pulled Ashley VanderHorst from fullback to forward hoping to spark the offense.  The moved proved to be a good one as Kendra VanderWoude dribbled the ball down the right side of the field and crossed it to the center to VanderHorst, who then kicked it in for the only goal of the game.  Jenison posted no shots on goal as the defense played an excellent game, giving goalkeeper Olivia Langworthy another shut-out win..  JV soccer looks to Thursday’s  tournament conference  match at home against Hastings. They have improved their record to 8-3-3.
