Multiple Teams · SCHS JV BOYS COME THROUGH

Round II, SCHS vs. Catholic Central Cougars. It must be something about first quarters, or maybe Catholic Central,or, heaven forbid, too many snow days, but the Sailors sputtered through the first quarter with almost as many turnovers (9) as points (12), but at least better than the 10 points in the first quarter of the prior CC game. Bring on the second string, and they respond by scoring 21 points, and lead 33 to 19 at the half. The third quarter belonged to Evan Beukema who put in eight points, but only six by the rest of the team, for a 47-30 lead. Bring in the second string in the fourth quarter and the pattern continues, with 16 points, and a 63-39 win, almost identical to the 63-41 S. Christian win on January 24. Whereas Hoekwater blew out the lights in the first CC game, it was the DeKryger, VanSolkema and Sinnema show tonight, with 25 points between them. Others scoring included 10 each for VanVoorst and Beukema, Heyboer with 8, Diemer 5, Hoekwater 3 and Bosch with 2. The Sailors shot well, 50%, for the game, but their free throw percentage is still found wanting at 46%.

Let’s hope the Sailors can continue the pattern next Tuesday when they travel to Ottawa Hills, where they plan to avenge their prior loss to the Bengals.
