Multiple Teams · JV Girls Continue Winning Ways

It was another double-digit victory for the JV Girls basketball team, beating Catholic Central on the Cougars home court. 44-25.

The Sailors controlled the tempo of the game, minimizing turn-overs on their own end of play, while pressuring the Cougars into several turn-overs.  The Sailor defense managed almost 30 steals, many of those turning into scoring opportunities.

Sailor Coach Pam VanderYacht says she is “impressed with the great teamwork that is emerging in our team that is becoming tough and aggressive.”

In what has become a familiar story-line for the JV girls this season, it was another well-balanced scoring attack for the Sailors, with 9 of the 11 players scoring.  Jenn DeBoer netted 8 points, with Sydney DeYoung scoring 7.  Maddie Herrema and Clarissa VanderHoning each scored 6 points, with Nicole VanderYacht adding 5.

In the final week of play for the season, the Sailors host Ottawa Hills Tuesday, and the Saxons from Hastings on Thursday.
