CUTLERVILLE — Mariel Bruxvoort had a day she’ll never forget at the state track and field finals for South Christian.
She won two state championship titles with a time of 14.82 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and 43.06 seconds for a personal record in the 300 hurdles.
She was the regional and OK Gold champ in both events. Her 14.64-second clocking in the OK Gold meet stands as a personal record.
Bruxvoort, a junior, was third in the 300-meter hurdles and ninth in the 100-meter hurdles at the state finals in 2016.
At this year’s state meet, Bruxvoort was seeded No. 2 for the 100 hurdles and No. 1 for the 300 hurdles.
“The only scary part is in a hurdle, an athlete can hit a hurdle and spoil things,” South Christian coach Eric Grimm said. “Other than that, we were confident she could win the 300 hurdles. The 100 hurdles, the girls seeded faster, did hit a hurdle. Mariel was able to win that.
