Going into our third year as a team to the OK Rainbow Tier 2 conference, we knew a win was going to be a challenge for us this year. Our rankings were low, but at Prelims Friday Night, the CLS lady vikings had time drops like non-other; setting us up for a great shot at the conference title on Saturday. Any athlete who made it back in the top 16 at finals score points for the team. Every point matters! Here are a few of our top swims:
the 200 Medley team of Kayla Huyser, Maggie Sova, Lexi Wilcox, and Emma Norman took first place with a time of 1:55.52
Kaylin Schering took 2nd in the 200 Freestyle with teammates Hannah Fritz and Riley Keegstra taking 6th and 8th
Kayla Huyser, Anna Luurstema, and Lexi Wilcox took 3rd, 4th, and 7th in the 200 IM
Norman took 3rd in the 50 free with teammate Kaylin Schering tying with a TK swimmer for 4th.
Alexis Salinas Took 3rd in Diving
Wilcox stole first place in the 100 fly by over 3 seconds.
Norman placed 2nd in the 100 free
In the 500 free, Luurstema took 3rd, Keegstra took 5th, and Syndey Parsons snuck her way into 16th place.
The team of Wilcox, Sova, Schering, and Norman took first in the 200 Free Relay setting a new team record.
Kayla Huyser placed 3rd in the 100 Back
Maggie Sova placed 2nd in the 100 Breast
The team of Fritz, Huyser, Luurstema, Schering finished the meet with 2nd place in the 400 Free Relay.
It was an amazing meet with great times for the Lady Vikings. Due to our 2 loses during the dual season, we share the conference title with Wayland and Thornapple Kellog Co-op, but we also are the Conference Meet Champions. That’s 3 years in a row now.
