The MHSAA has officially stated that Boys Soccer, Girls Swim and Dive, Volleyball, and Football have been allowed to move forward with their seasons this Fall. This is exciting news for our student athletes and coaches. There are specific guidelines we must follow for each sport for both spectators and athletes. We must remain vigilant as a community and follow these guidelines to help ensure that our athletes get the season that they deserve. Please see the information below for further clarification.
Boys soccer may begin competition immediately. JV and Varsity will play Tuesday (9/8) at Kenowa Hills as originally scheduled.
Girls Swim & Dive
Practice and Competition for CLS will resume on Monday, September 14. More information will be coming from Coach Hollowell.
Our high school gym will be open and practice will resume on Wednesday, September 9. Varsity, JV and Freshmen teams will play Thursday, September 10 vs Wayland at South Christian.
There is a dead period for Football on September 3-7. Football may resume activities on Tuesday, September 8. On September 8 and 9, Football may only practice in helmets and shoulder pads. On September 10, fully padded practices can occur. There will be 6 regular season games. The Freshmen/JV teams will play at Kenowa Hills Thursday, September 17. The Varsity team will play Friday, September 18 at Kenowa Hills. All Varsity teams will be in the first round of playoffs on October 30 or 31. Every Varsity football team will make the playoffs for a guaranteed 7 game season.
Each participant (student athlete) will be allowed two spectators to attend their event. This rule is effect for both indoor and outdoor sports. Further guidance on ticket information will be communicated at a later date by your coaches.
Masks are required for spectators. The new Executive Order also states that all athletes must wear a facial covering except when swimming. Further clarification on this order will be coming from the MHSAA and if athletes have to wear a facial covering while actively participating.
There will limited concessions available at our soccer and football games. This will consist of prepackaged food and drink such as candy, popcorn and soda. There will be NO concessions available at indoor events.
We have a new live stream system that is available to all. We have the ability to live stream any home event that takes place on the soccer field or in the gym. We are excited about this opportunity as spectators will be limited but this will give the option for all others to watch many events. There is a $10.99 monthly charge and coaches will be sending links in the future which will guide you on how to watch live events.
As we all know, this has been a very fluid situation and we expect schedule changes to occur throughout the Fall season. Continue to stay engaged and alert on all of these changes and we will do our best to communicate with you all.
God is GREAT and continues to lead and guide us through these uncharted waters. Continue to pray for our athletes, coaches and our community as a whole. We are blessed by all of you and we are so excited for our athletes and we cannot wait to watch them compete again soon. Go Sailors!
