Heritage Christian Middle School was the setting for the Inaugural Autumn Sunrise Invitational on Saturday, October 10. The course at Heritage Christian Middle school was a flat, 2 loop course that wound throughout baseball fields and wooded areas, and had the runners finish on the track.
The Bengal Invitational the evening before brought an opportunity for many SC athletes to compete in a capacity that they hadn’t previously. Competing in the Autumn Division, the Sailor teams raced well against a challenging group of competitors in both the varsity and JV races.
There were many highlights from the men’s races as several athletes ran lifetime personal records. The following male athletes ran lifetime personal records: Jack Green–19:13, Garrett Schaaf–19:31, Mitchell Bol–20:05, Nathan DeVries–21:52, Jaxon Palmbos–22:07, Levi Huisman–23:17, and Ethan Bossenbroek–28:59.
A number of female athletes ran season or lifetime personal records in the women’s races as well. The following female athletes ran lifetime personal records: Anna Orr–22:01, Evie DeBlaay–22:42, Ashleigh Ponstein–23:04, Alisa Feddema–23:16, Sarah Zylstra–23:18, Ellie Mulder–23:34, Jolie Harkema–25:27, Josie Meengs–25:28, Anneke Gritter–26:29, and Olivia Barr–28:21. The following female athletes ran season records: Natalie Bosma–22:28, Sarah Brinks–23:00, Maia Reynolds–25:06, and Grace Huizingh–25:27.

The South Christian Cross Country teams compete next for the OK Gold Championship at the final OK Gold meet of the season on Tuesday, October 20 at Thornapple Kellogg High School.
