The Sailors traveled to the Holland Civic Center to face Holland Christian for a rare Saturday night contest. The first quarter started out very slow with missed shots by both teams and their lowest score this season, Sailors 5-4. The frigid shooting continued in the second quarter but with improved defense held the Maroons to two points, 14-6. The third quarter was no exception on the cold shooting (Sailors shot 20% from the field and 7% from the 3-point stripe) and they held the lead, 20-17. Holland Christian came out the fourth quarter firing on more cylinders with 3 for 3-point shots to tie the game and eventually take the lead at the 4:05 mark. The Sailors applied the pressure defense their fans have come familiar with to chop away the Holland lead to capture the win, 34-29. The Sailors had 15 turnovers, 17 steals, and shot 65% from the free throw line. Cam Post lead all scores with a season high 10 points, Jake Vermaas 8, Nate Brinks 6, Nick Bultje 3, Jaxson Rynbrandt 3, Eric DeWeerd 2, Seth Ritsema 2. The Sailors travel north to Cedar Springs to play the Red Hawks on Tuesday, February 23 at 5:30 pm.
