Sailor boys basketball traveled the short trip to Kelloggsville High School Tuesday evening. The JV boys battled for 32 minutes and it still wasn't enough to decide the outcome. The sailors pulled out an exciting 67-63 come from behind victory against a tough Kelloggsville team. The game was a back and forth affair, with no team leading by more than 8 points in the contest. The sailors led 13-12 after 1 quarter and the game was knotted at 24 at halftime. Kelloggsville led most of the 2nd half, building their lead to 8 points midway through the 4th quarter. Sal Padilla hit a big 3 to get the sailors run going to the finish. The sailors took the lead in the final minute of regulation after a steal by Tyler Krosschell that led to a 3-pt play by Ethan Smith to take a 2 point lead. Kelloggsville responded with the equalizer to end regulation. In overtime the Rockets jumped out to a 6 point lead, but the sailors once again battled back. CJ Semple knocked in a big 3 and after a couple more stops, Ethan Smith knocked in 2 more threes swinging the lead to the sailors in 3 possessions. They ultimately held on for the 67-63 victory. Ethan Smith led the 2nd half charge with 18 points for the game, all scored in the 2nd half and overtime. Tyler Krosschell led all scorers with 23 points and Houston Wildeboer played some amazing defense down the stretch. Sailors are back in action Thursday night at home vs Unity Christian, 5:30pm.
