The JV Boys grinded out a 49-47 victory Thursday night against cross-town rival Unity Christian. It was another close game throughout, with neither team having a lead greater than 8 points. The boys improved to 4-0 on the season. The game started slow, looking like both teams had a snow day yesterday. The game was knotted at 10 after the first quarter and South took a slim 22-21 margin into halftime. South battled back from a 6 point deficit midway through the 2nd quarter. During the 3rd quarter the sailors were able to build an 8 point lead on two occasion behind a big three-pointer by CJ Semple and a couple of tough 3 point plays the old-fashion way by Tyler Krosschell. But Unity wasn't done and cut the lead to two points after 3. The teams traded the lead throughout the 4th and after Unity hit a big 3 late, the game was tied at 47-47. With 4.3 seconds remaining, the sailors used an well-executed out of bounds play to find Kolin Younce for the game-winning layup securing the 49-47 victory. The sailors were led in scoring by Tyler Krosschell with 20 points, and Kolin Younce with 9. Sailors are back again next week Monday @ Muskegon High School at 5:30pm.
