The JV sailors had to claw their way back Thursday night to win against Northview 43-41. In a very evenly matched contest, both teams took turns going on runs and making plays. Fortunately for the sailors, they were able to make a few more plays in the 4th quarter to come out victorious. Northview jumped out to a 13-6 lead in the first quarter. Northview played stingy defense and the sailors turned it over often. In the 2nd quarter the sailors found their footing, but still were unable to get the offense firing on all cylinders and were down 24-16 at the break. The start of the third quarter proved to be a defensive affair as the sailors could not get the offense going and trailed 26-17 halfway through the quarter. Sparked by a big 3-pointer by Houston Wildeboer to cut the lead to 26-20, the sailors used their defense to claw their way back in the contest. Tyler Krosschell took over the end of the 3rd scoring the last 8 points down low and the sailors took the 28-27 advantage into the final frame. The 4th quarter proved to be a back and forth affair, but a Cam In'Hout put back and Sal Padilla 3-pointer gave them a 5 point advantage with under two minutes remaining. The sailors got the stop they needed to on the final possession to hold on to a 43-41 conference win. Sailors improve to 2-0 in the conference and 7-2 overall. Sailors play again at home on Tuesday night at 5:30pm against Wayland.
