There was a lot on the line Thursday night. Northview came into the contest with their only loss in conference play to the sailors 43-41. South was sitting atop the conference at 7-0. The sailors seized the opportunity early and never looked back. The boys played relentless defense and let the defense lead them to the victory. The sailors built their lead through three quarters leading 17-9 after the first, 29-15 at half, and 44-22 after three quarters. Their defense was able to keep Northview in check throughout the game and timely buckets by a host of sailors throughout the contest held momentum . The sailors withstood a spirited comeback in the 4th as the Wildcats were able to cut the lead to 47-34 for a few minutes remaining. After a couple of FT's and a few stops on defense, the sailors were able to take the well-earned victory. In a balanced attack, Tyler Krosschell led with 13 points, Ethan Smith chipped in 11 and Kolin Younce and Joe Mass had 9 & 8 respectively. Sailors go into the last two weeks of the season with 3 scheduled games each week. They are back in action Monday night in a JV only boys contest against Lowell High School at 5:30pm at home.
