South Christian Sailors Varsity Defeats 2026 GR Northview Varsity Softball On Back Of Clutch Display From Zayda Burke Zayda Burke drove in four runs on two hits to lead South Christian Sailors Varsity past 2026 GR Northview Varsity Softball 17-2 on Tuesday. Burke doubled in the first inning, scoring three runs, and walked in the fourth inning, scoring one. 2026 GR Northview Varsity Softball were the first to get on the board in the first when Nevaeh Plaster hit a solo home run to left field. South Christian Sailors Varsity flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring seven runs on four hits to take the lead, 7-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Burke that drove in three. South Christian Sailors Varsity added one run in the second. Emma Bennink flew out, making the score 8-1. South Christian Sailors Varsity added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after 2026 GR Northview Varsity Softball committed an error, and Abby Padding walked, each scoring one run. South Christian Sailors Varsity scored seven runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Kenlee Copeland singled, scoring one run, Burke drew a walk, scoring one run, Meg Schreur drew a walk, scoring one run, and Bennink singled, scoring three runs. Cassidy Fisk earned the win for South Christian Sailors Varsity. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking three. Laela Spendow took the loss for 2026 GR Northview Varsity Softball. The hurler went two innings, giving up 13 runs (11 earned) on seven hits, striking out none and walking eight. Burke and Copeland each collected two hits for South Christian Sailors Varsity. South Christian Sailors Varsity had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 12 walks for the game. Fisk and Schreur led the team with three walks each. Elyse Turkowski-Fix, Plaster, Penny Frymire, and Spendow each collected one hit for 2026 GR Northview Varsity Softball. Plaster and Frymire each drove in one run for 2026 GR Northview Varsity Softball. Turkowski-Fix stole three bases. The Sailors split with Northview to open up league competition on Tuesday.
