The sailors fell in a heartbreaker to Holland Cristian Saturday night at the Civic Center. The game was back and forth with both teams never taking a strong hold of the game. Defense was key for both teams to keep the game close.
Tied going into the 4th quarter, both teams turned their defense up a notch. The Maroons scored the only three points of the quarter until Tanner Raak hit a corner three pointer to tie the game up with under 30 seconds to play.
Unfortunately on the final play, the sailors forced a miss but a foul was called under the hoop and the Maroons made 1 of 2 free throws to take the lead for good.
The sailors next have another busy week next week traveling to Cedar Springs and Kenowa Hills and finally getting a chance at revenge for their first loss as Catholic Central travels to SCHS on Saturday afternoon.
