The freshman Lady Sailors took on the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles at home on Thursday night. The Sailors didn’t get off to the best start and found themselves down 7-0 at one time. However, Jaideyn Koster got the Sailors going after making a tough layup and finding herself at the line afterwards. After that, the Sailors found themselves coming back and taking the lead going into halftime with a score of 16-13.
They came out in the first 20 seconds of the second half scoring three consecutive baskets making the score 22-13. After that, Claire VanElderen took over the third quarter while scoring 10 of her overall 14 points. As a whole team, everyone played well on offense and the defensive end of the floor. The Sailors found themselves winning the game with a score of 46-23.
Claire VanElderen lead the team in scoring with a total of 14 points. Alea Winkle contributed 9 points, while Ashlyn In’tHout had a total of 5 points, a big three pointer being one of those shots. Others that scored were Emmory VanHofwegen and Shaina Toering with four points each. Then Megan DeVries, Lily Huizinga, Jaideyn Koster, Stephanie Michmerhuizen, and Malia Kits each had two points.
