The freshman Lady Sailors met up with rival Unity Christian on Thursday, January 16. The beginning of the game started off slow as both teams struggled to make baskets, but great defense was being played from both teams. The Sailors went into half-time only being down by two points. The Sailors came back determined and focused, and found themselves up 21-16 near the end of the third quarter. However, due to miscommunication and turnovers, Unity found themselves winning the game 30-26. Despite the loss, the Sailors played hard until the end and gave great effort.
Leading the team in Thursday night’s game was Alea Winkle with nine points. Stephanie Michmerhuizen contributed six points, while Ashlyn In’tHout and Emmory VanHofwegen both had five points, and Lily Huizinga with one point.
