The SC Lady Ballers squared off against a tough Three Rivers squad on Tuesday night trying to extend their State Tournament run in the regional semi-final game. The gym was filled with energy and excitement from the very beginning. The Lady Sailors worked through what seemed to be nerves and found themselves down 8-11 to end the first quarter. In the second quarter the Lady Sailors were able to hold their own with both teams scoring only 7 points apiece sending South into the locker room only down 3 at the half. It was a game of momentum swings both ways with 5 lead changes throughout and a tied score on 3 separate occasions. Three Rivers outlasted the SC Lady Ballers outscoring them by 8 points in the 4th quarter.

Contributions from the floor included Sydney Vis with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 deflections. Addyson VanSolkema chipped in 6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 4 deflections. Taylor Newhof had a huge night on the boards leading the way with 10, she also lead the team in assists with 3 and scored 5 points. Rounding out the scoring where Elli VInk with 3, Maria Schrotenboer, Josie VInk, Sailor Holstege and Ashley Raredon each had 2 points.

It was the last time the SC Lady ballers will get to play with Seniors teammates Alaina Schuitema, Kinsey Brinkert and Elli Vink. Their contributions to the team and program have not gone unnoticed and they will be missed greatly.

Last games of the season are always hard but they inevitably have to happen. The SC Lady Ballers ended the 2019-2020 season with a record of 13 – 11. They grew as players, teammates and children of the One True King this season and for that we feel blessed. .
