South travelled to Covenant for a non-conference double-header and enjoyed two exciting games, one of which ended in a happy ending for the Sailors.
Covenant scored a single run in the first inning, but Annie Schreur gave the Sailors the lead in the second driving in two runs on a one-out single. Covenant regained the lead in the third, adding three runs on only one hit. South only managed a single runner in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings and found themselves trailing by three heading into the final inning.
Annie Schreur scored when Kinsey Brinkert ripped a triple to left center. Ella Koster drove Brinkert in on a single and Kate DeMann tied the game with a single to drive in Koster. In extra innings, with teams given a runner at second to start the inning, South was unable to score, but Covenant drove in the winning run on a ground ball to shortstop, giving them the 7-6 victory.
